1. DISQUALIFICATION:
A winner maybe disqualified from receiving any prize upon proof that the owner or handler participated in
any irregularity such as tampering of wing bands or leg bands, or inducing an entry to deliberately lose a
fight. Penalty for this offense will result to the expulsion of any member for life from the NLGBA. NLGBA
Board of Directors will decide on such matters.
2. ENTRY FEES:
The entry fee must be paid in full before the first fight. (Cash Only)
3. MINUMUM/MAXIMUM BETS:
Minimum bets shall be PHP 3,300.00, Maximum PHP 11,000.00 for 3 and 4 stag/cock derbies; PHP 5,500.00
minimum, PHP 22,000.00 maximum for 5 and 6 stag/cock/bullstag derbies, for 7 and up stag/cock/bullstag
derbies Php 8,800.00 minimum, Php 33,000.00 maximum.
4. MATCHING:
Accepted weights are from 1.7 to 2.2 kilos for stag derbies, 1.7 to 2.3 kilos for bullstag derbies, and 1.8
to 2.4 kilos for cock derbies.
5. SCREENING and LEG BANDING:
a. All NLGBA member entries are required to take their stags to the cockpit premises from 6:00 am to
12:00 pm for the needed leg banding on each derby day. Late-comers will be meted a fine of PHP
3,300.00 per entry regardless of reason. After leg banding is done, no leg banded stag will be
allowed to leave the pit premises.
b. NLGBA Breeders Cup Stag derbies exclusively only to NLGBA members. Non-NLGBA banded stags
coming from other associations or groups are not allowed to participate. NLGBA banding committee
shall screen Wing Band prior to leg banding. Provide a copy of wing band record to NLGBA banding
committee. The provided copy of wing record must be sign and dated by the screener upon
completion of screening. No entrant shall be allowed to participate without copy or proper copy of
the Wing Band record.
c. Leg banding Criteria for NLGBA banded stags: strictly un-tampered wing bands.
d. Leg banding for NLGBA banded stags are done on the day of fight inside the pit premises, one (1)
hour before announced commencement of fights at the latest, for that particular day. Penalties will
be sanctioned otherwise.
e. Tampering of wing bands if caught, will subject the NLGBA member concerned, to a thorough
investigation by the members of the Board of Directors. If the Board rules that, the tampering was
done willfully and with evil intent, said member will be subject to expulsion from the NLGBA for life.
6. FINES:
a. Pre-Weight-In, allowance is plus or minus 35 grams to the registered weight. A PHP 3,300.00 fine is
meted out on weights more than 35 grams allowance but not beyond more than 50 grams in the
registered weight, which amount is given to the aggrieved entry. If the bad weight exceeds 15
grams, the offending entry is penalized an added fine of PHP 3,300.00 on top of which said entry is
required to change the stag with another one in conformity to the weight limit, within 3 hours.
b. If the offending entry failed to change the stag, NLGBA will provide, and said offending entry
garners a "0" score. The incremental fine of PHP 3,300.00 goes to NLGBA to shoulder expenses for
the "joker" stag.
c. Post-Weigh-In, if the actual weight of a stag either dropped or increased by more 35 grams in the
registered weight and the actual weight difference of its opposing entry is not more than 50 grams,
failure to meet this requirements owner shall pay the opposing entry of Php 3,300.00, the battle
shall proceed.
***Stags, Cocks or Bullstags shall not weigh even a fractional part of gram more than the weights stipulated in the agreement.
d. A PHP 3,300.00 fine is imposed on fight delay regardless of reason. Said fine spans to only 7 fights
so that after the 7-fight rule has lapsed, another PHP 3,300.00 is imposed for the next 7 fights and
so forth. All related fines will be given to the aggrieved party.
e. A foul line with a distance of 2 meters is painted across the Pit. Releasing a rooster on or beyond
the line shall be imposed a fine PHP 5,000.00 regardless of the pitter's intention or unawareness of
the rule, in favor of the aggrieved party. In case the aggrieved entry is quick, enough not to
release his rooster, said penalty shall still be imposed outright.
7. "NO FIGHT" REQUESTS:
Requests should be consensual between two owners, and their respective entries. Requests will be
limited to a maximum, against 3 owners. Identity of owners will be based strictly on the registered name
of the wing bands. Name of entries, nor the name of owner of said entries upon fight time, will be
immaterial. Only the registered owners of the wing bands will be considered in "no fight" request.
8. GROUNDS FOR DISCONTINUATION OF FIGHT:
Once inside the pit, a rooster may be brought out by the handler only in the following instances:
a. If it is limping. If a rooster still limps after the second heeling, he may be brought out by the
handler for a second time, if after another 7 fights, said rooster shall be fought, limping or not
limping. The third heeling of both parties shall be done inside the pit.
b. If it dies before release.
c. If it refuses to fight before or after releasing.
d. If it is so sick or wounded that it cannot stand or walk, or does not have a chance to win.
e. If it is wounded accidentally upon release prior to the engagement of both roosters.
f. However, if the roosters have engaged each other on a single pass and one quits, the "kareo" shall
push through, wounded or unwounded.
In case 8b to 8e, said entry shall provide a legitimate stag replacement within 3 hours. In case of
failure to come up with a replacement stag, said entry should pay a fine of PHP 3,300.00 in favor
of the opposing entry. NLGBA will provide the replacement stag after another 2 hours grace
period.
9. NLGBA reserves the right to accept or reject any entry.
10. All NLGBA stag derbies will stat 1:00 pm sharp on each derby day.
11. A maximum of 3 minutes will be allowed for the squaring of bets. Calls for odds will not be allowed inside the
Pit. After the squaring of bets, another 2 minutes will be given for warming up the roosters. A fine of PHP
1,000.00 will be meted out on the entry whose "pecker" handler does not leave the Pit after 2 minutes
time. This fine will be given to the opposing entry.
12. Handlers and/or any member of the entrants are prohibited inside the Pit during the fight. Failure do so,
NLGBA will impose a penalty of Php 3,300.00 to the owner expense.
13. No entry shall be allowed to pack and leave the pit premises at any point in time without first securing the
needed pass signed by any NLGBA director present.
14. No entry shall be awarded a point if such was not earned by way of a fight. (No fight, no point system).
15. For Stag Derbies use of double blade / Malaysian knife is PROHIBITED.
16. For cocks and Bullstag derbies use of double blade knife is PROHIBITED.
17. Each entry is entitled five (5) free pass tickets including handlers and gaffers.
18. Handlers and assistance handler are not allowed inside the PIT wearing slippers, sando’s, short pants;
penalty will be imposed at the owner’s expense of Php 1,000.
19. Referees' decision is FINAL
20. Criteria for Breeder of the Year Award:
a. Should have fielded an entry for all NLGBA Breeders Cup Stag derbies scheduled with exactly the
same entry name with the highest accumulated points.
b. No limit to the number of entries fielded by each member who wishes to vie for the award.
c. Each entry will be legitimate for the award provided all stags fought are registered to his name.
d. No fight, no point earned system will be followed.
e. In case of a tie in total points, the “plus tiebreak” will be used:
3 stag champion: + 0.5 pt.
4 stag champion: + 1.0 pts.
21. Trophies will be awarded to the top five (5) places.
22. Video coverage will be provided to each entry.
23. A committee is created to particularly resolve and settle conflicting matters that may crop up during the
derby proper, with issues, which are not covered in the aforementioned derby and pit rules. The committee
is composed of 5 directors and chaired by the president. Any decision reached by this committee is
conclusive and final.
24. Any members’ and/or officials’ who may wish to promote NLGBA or special events must have an approval
from Board of Directors. Failure to do so, that individual will be ban for life from NLGBA.
25. Special Events (to help the poor) such as scholarship, school, church, medical assistance …etc, proceeds
to be deposited to fundraiser account.
26. There will be 60/40 split on the proceeds for member(s) or official(s) promoting NLGBA or using NLGBA
Trademark and Rules.
27. Any member (s) or official (s) have a privilege to have an event for his own benefits without using NLGBA
trademark and Rules, only if this individual had participated in any NLGBA derbies. (Limit to one (1) each
year per member or official)
28. NLGBA Breeders Cup Derby or derbies that exclusively only to NLGBA members dividend will be divided into
equal share, unless individual who fielded one (1) or two (2) of the three (3) Breeders Cup is entitle a
portion of the dividend. Member who did not participate are not entitle of the dividend.
29. NLGBA Members with Non-Members Derbies, all members who did and did not participate are entitled of the
dividend.
30. No dividends to be share from Fundraiser derbies. Any official or member who may request fund from
Fundraiser funds, requestor must submit a letter of Intent to the Board of Directors in order to give
adequate notice for any action that may be necessary regarding his request. Otherwise, request will be
denied.
31. These Rules apply to all NLGBA derbies.
IT WILL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH MEMBER OR PARTICIPANT TO SECURE A COPY OF THE YEARLY UPDATED DERBY AND PIT RULES.
